About me
🌸 Meet the Maker: Debs Brown
The heart and hands behind Deb’s Delightful Gifts
Hello! I'm Debs Brown, a proud Swindonian and a retired nurse who discovered a whole new chapter of creativity after an unexpected early retirement at 55. What began as a therapeutic hobby soon blossomed into a true passion — and eventually, a small business filled with heart, purpose, and handmade charm.
My journey began with a simple discovery: decoupage. That one spark lit a creative fire, and I started showcasing my upcycled creations at small local craft fayres. As my confidence grew, so did my stall — leading me to larger events, farmers markets, and even traditional steam rallies. Along the way, I taught myself new techniques and developed a style that blends rustic charm with sustainable design.
Every piece I make — from vintage slate signs and candle holders to canvas art and repurposed glassware — is a celebration of giving old materials a new lease on life. Being entirely self-taught, I take great pride in every detail, always crafting with care, love, and a touch of whimsy.
But my passion doesn’t stop at the craft table…
When the much-loved Big Malmesbury Craft Fair was at risk of closing due to lack of leadership, I stepped in to keep it alive. I now proudly run this monthly event, held on the last Saturday of every month, providing a space for local makers and artists to come together, share their work, and connect with the community.
💬 Crafting gave me a second chance to do something meaningful — not just for myself, but for others too. Whether it's through my handmade gifts or helping fellow creatives thrive, I'm all about making beautiful things that tell a story and bring a smile.

Upcycled treasures await
♻️ The Beauty of Recycling & Upcycling
At Deb’s Delightful Gifts, sustainability and creativity go hand in hand.
I love hunting through charity shops and second-hand finds, looking for hidden gems that others might pass by. Whether it’s coffee jars, glass bottles, wooden boxes, slate hearts, coasters, or even jute bags, I see potential in every piece. With a bit of imagination and a lot of love, I upcycle and transform these materials into one-of-a-kind, handmade gifts full of charm and character.
I specialise in decoupage, using copyright-free designs printed on delicate mulberry paper and napkins. These designs breathe fresh life into forgotten items, turning them into beautiful, eco-conscious pieces for the home or as thoughtful gifts.
I also enjoy crocheting, and have recently started adding a few of my crochet makes to my stall — all thanks to the kind support and encouragement of Shani from Creative Crochet by Shani, whose generosity gave me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone.
In fact, you can now also find and purchase some of my upcycled and handmade creations at Creative Crochet by Shani — a wonderful hub of crafty inspiration, community spirit, and fellow handmade magic.
🌿 By choosing upcycled, you’re choosing sustainability, individuality, and a deeper story behind every item. At Deb’s Delightful Gifts, I craft with purpose — creating beautiful things that are kind to the planet and full of heart.
